The Demonstration Garden is preparing to rest for the winter.
The blooming flowers have been deadheaded, the leaves have been raked, the last of the growing season’s “weeds” have been cleaned out.
Beth Lyne and her volunteer crew have retreated to the warmth of their homes and cabins to dream of next year’s growing season. Already we hear murmurings of what they’re planning.
6/10/2011 From Susan: “The spring work day for the demonstration garden is set for Thursday, June 16, at 8:00 AM. For new comers, the garden is located across the road from the GVM office. We welcome any and all who would like to stop by the garden to check it out or join us in pulling a few weeds, pruning bushes, planting new vegetation, etc. It’s a great way to get your hands dirty and meet some new folk! Don’t forget sunscreen, hats, and water bottle.”
Just in from Susan Lamb (GVM Demonstration Garden Manager) “Spring is upon us and it’s time to turn our sights to gardening and the bloomin’ plants! The garden committee will meet Monday afternoon (May 11) at 1:00 in the basement of the GVM office, unless otherwise advised. Any and all who have an interest in xeriscape designs and plants are welcome to join us!”
Announcement: A new Garden page was added to our blog today for the subcommittee to add mountain gardening information.
